Meet Tamika J.

Artist. Vocal Coach. Performance Coach. Entrepreneur.

Tamika J. is a Haitian-American singer, songwriter, vocal and performance coach born and raised in Miami, Florida. Deeply rooted in her Haitian culture. Tamika has built her career around music, storytelling, creativity, community, and helping others discover the power of their own voice.

From an early age, Tamika began writing and performing her own music, drawing inspiration from legendary artists including Jill Scott, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker, Sade, Lauryn Hill, Whitney Houston, and more. Over the years, she developed a soulful sound and storytelling style uniquely her own.

Her journey as an artist eventually opened another door: coaching.

Tamika's journey into vocal coaching began organically. People started approaching her to learn the vocal techniques and strategies she used within her own artistry.

What began as sharing her knowledge with others grew into a passion for helping singers understand, develop, and become confident in their own voices.

Since then, Tamika has worked with students at different stages of their vocal journeys, from complete beginners singing for the first time to trained vocalists, emerging artists, and performers preparing to step onto the stage.

Her approach is rooted in one important belief:

Your voice does not have to sound like anyone else's to be powerful.

Tamika doesn't want to create singers who sound exactly like her or anyone else. Her goal is to help each student understand the instrument they already have, strengthen it, develop their artistry, and discover what makes their individual sound unique.

From Artist to Coach

Find YOUR Voice. Find YOUR Sound.

The music and entertainment industry can place tremendous pressure on artists to look, sound, and perform a certain way. Comparison and criticism can easily cause singers to question the very thing that makes them unique.

Tamika's mission is to help break down those insecurities.

Her coaching creates a space where students can learn, experiment, make mistakes, ask questions, build confidence, and grow without feeling like they have to prove themselves.

Whether you're discovering your voice for the first time, returning to singing, strengthening an already trained voice, entering the music industry, or preparing for your next performance, Tamika meets you where you are.

The goal isn't simply to become a "better singer."

It's to become more confident, more intentional, and more connected to YOUR voice.

Beyond the Voice

Tamika believes that being a powerful vocalist is only one part of becoming a powerful performer.

Her performance coaching is designed to help singers take the skills they've developed behind the scenes and confidently bring them to the stage.

Students can work on areas including:

  • Vocal technique and control

  • Breath support

  • Pitch and vocal stamina

  • Vocal range

  • Vibrato, belting, falsetto, and other vocal techniques

  • Song interpretation and emotional connection

  • Stage presence

  • Body language and movement

  • Facial expression

  • Microphone technique

  • Audience engagement

  • Performance confidence

  • Audition and live-performance preparation

Students learn not only how to sing a song, but how to communicate it, using their voice, body, emotion, and presence to connect with an audience.

An Artist Who Understands the Stage

Tamika brings her own real-world experience as a singer and performer into every coaching session.

She appeared on NBC's The Voice during Seasons 17 and 18, where she had the opportunity to perform for some of the industry's most celebrated artists, including John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Nick Jonas.

Those experiences—along with years of performing, recording, songwriting, developing her artistry, and navigating the music industry—inform the way she works with other artists today.

Tamika understands that developing as a performer isn't only about technique.

It's also about learning to trust yourself.

Artist. Coach. Entrepreneur.

Beyond her work as an artist and coach, Tamika is passionate about creating spaces where creativity and community can thrive.

She is the founder of LA Living Room Sessions, a community-centered platform created to uplift independent artists through live performance, networking, and meaningful creative connection.

She is also the founder of Taomi Tea N Treats, a tea brand inspired by her Haitian roots and passion for wellness, self-care, and creating new ways for people to experience tea. The brand has been featured on NBC Los Angeles, where Tamika shared more about her Haitian culture and the benefits and traditions surrounding tea.

Across music, coaching, community, and entrepreneurship, one theme continues to connect Tamika's work:

Helping people confidently embrace what makes them uniquely themselves.
